IRONSIDES WIN BINGHAM BOWL!
May 28, 2006

After three days of fierce competition at the 2006 Bingham Cup, the Boston Ironsides emerged undefeated with a 6-0 record to take home the first ever Bingham Bowl award. The Bowl, established in 2006, represents the highest honor for intermediate-level clubs competing at the Bingham Cup event.
Defense dominated the Ironsides' play, as the team held all six of their opponents to a combined 19 points (versus 111 for the Ironsides), including three shutouts. In the exciting finals match against the Dallas Diablos, neither team scored during regulation; the Ironsides finally kicked a penalty goal four minutes into the second overtime to seal the victory. Check out the photo gallery for a few pics!
Here are the final scores from the weekend:
Match #1 vs. Atlanta Bucks: W 43-7
Match #2 vs. Chicago Dragons: W 33-5
Match #3 vs. Austin Lonestars: W 12-0
Match #4 vs. Portland Avalanche: W 17-6
Semi-Final vs. Philly Gryphons: W 3-0
Final vs. Dallas Diablos: W 3-0 in Double Overtime
Congratulations to everyone on a great tournament – especially first-time scorers Butchie, Mike and Sam, and our departing veterans George, Matt and Travis! We'd also like to send a shout out to the Diablos for a brutally hard-fought and well-played finals match, and the Gryphons, who have come a long way over the years we've played them. True dat.
Ironsides players attend Fenway Health Men's Event
March 12, 2006
Last night a group of men from Boston Ironsides RFC went to the Fenway
Community Health Center's annual Men's
Event.
Our table was filled with current members, newbies, and friends. Although a
muddy pitch is the usual habitat for the feral Ironsides rugger, it's
amazing how handsome we are if we just wash behind the ears and put on a
good tux!
Thank you to everyone who participated, and made the night such a success.
In all, around $500,000 was raised that night by everyone in attendance, along
with corporate sponsors. A special thanks also goes to Dennis and Jim Noonan-Sloan. They could not attend this
year, but donated their tickets to a friend on the team.
Every time I see our team pull together for the community, it makes me very
proud to be associated with such outstanding men.
With you,
Marshall Mills, President
Boston Ironsides RFC
